Vegan Butchers Expand Scottish Startup to New Zealand

Scottish food startup Sgaia Foods expands its business to New Zealand before its second birthday.

Plant based living is on the rise, and fast-growing vegan startup Sgaia is proof of it, becoming ever more popular in the United Kingdom over the course of the past year. Focused on making high quality, culturally accurate and authentic tasting plant meats, Sgaia was founded just under two years ago by two vegans wanting to bring food culture with them in their ethical way of life, with no compromise on flavour!

Sgaia's Mheat steaks, burgers and streaky rashers recently launched in nine Whole Foods Market branches in the UK, broadening their reach to the superstore's six figure footfall, which includes vegetarians, meat eaters, the health conscious and many more consumer categories. With the growing popularity of vegan butchers across the globe, Sgaia's Mheats have been gaining recognition and praise at a record breaking rate, but seem only to be gaining speed. 

Working with Australasian Importer/Distributor NZ Soy Essentials Ltd, Sgaia has now made its way across the globe to New Zealand, where its Mheat products have already gained traction and caused a stir. "It really is very exciting what is happening here and around the world" said Rose, Sgaia's distributor in New Zealand.
