HOW TO COOK MHEAT 

Thank you for purchasing Mheat. We’re sure that you’ll enjoy making delicious meals with it as much as we do! Please remember that this is a fresh, hand made and packaged, artisanal product. No two products will ever be the same, much like two loaves of bread bought in a bakery will never have quite the same shape, but rest assured that each one receives the same care and attention nonetheless!

STEAKS/BURGERS

 

Mheat is pre-cooked and ready to eat, so there is no real need to cook it further. Preparing your steak is just a matter of heating it up in a way that will make it even more delicious!

Cook your steak/burger separately, and add it to your favourite dish as the last thing, just before it’s ready, so that it heats through but doesn’t overcook.

Don't open oven roast! The reason for this is that Mheat has no fat added to it, so unlike animal meat and many other vegan meats out there, it would become dry and tough if left uncovered in the oven. Always remember to add some sort of fat when cooking, or wrap it tightly in tinfoil if you must use the oven.

We love the steak chopped up and sizzled on medium heat in a little oil and soy sauce. Marinades also work wonders to bring out and enhance its delicious savoury flavour.

Our burgers are great brushed in a little oil and char-grilled on a hot cast iron griddle. You can also cook them on a barbecue or in a hot pan. Always remember to brush them in oil before hand and to keep them covered to ensure they heat through

STREAKY RASHERS

 

Just like all our other products, they are pre-cooked and ready to eat, so there is no real need to cook them further. So you're just heating them up!

 Do not leave uncovered in the oven. The reason for this is that the rashers have no fat added to them, so unlike animal meat and many other vegan bacons out there, they would become dry and tough if left uncovered in the oven. The same goes for over frying - so make sure you don’t forget about ‘em in the pan, and that you always add some sort of fat! Coconut oil is our favourite.

 We love our rashers brushed in a little oil and gently fried in a pan over medium heat for a couple of minutes – or for longer, depending on how you like them. This will ensure they don’t overcook, and that the outer edges caramelise nicely! Alternatively, you could wrap them tightly in tinfoil and warm them in the oven. Always remember to add a little liquid if you choose this method – we recommend liquid aminos, soy sauce or a little yeast extract mixed with water.

CHARCUTERIE

 

All of our products are pre-cooked and ready to eat, so there is no need to cook them. Add them to your dish just as they are, or crisp them up in a pan beforehand if you prefer – just remember not to cook them for too long or they will go tough and brittle.

 The Salamino is delicious added onto a pizza base and topped with some vegan mozzarella. Or add it to a toastie for an extra chunky spicy kick!

 The slices are great added to sandwiches, wraps and salads. The Herbed Roast goes really well with some fresh vegan cream cheese, and a few rocket leaves. The Späck is excellent paired with a strong, hard vegan cheese and a dollop of sweet chutney. The Pastramheat is perfect for making up a vegan Reuben - just add rye bread, russian dressing, some sauerkraut and your favourite vegan cheese!

You could also get creative and make up a vegan charcuterie board!
